How Stretch Mark Removal Works – Are you suffering from acne, surgical scarring, stretch marks, fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, or melasma (patchy, brown discoloration)? Well, non-ablative fractional laser skin resurfacing is a perfect choice anywhere on the body (face, neck, chest, stomach, hips, back, arms, legs). The Palomar Icon 1540™ laser handpiece is the most advanced technology available for skin rejuvenation and resurfacing. Most patients require a series of 3-5 treatments at 4-6 week intervals. If a faster result is needed, we also recommend our Cynosure FOCUS Lens Array and Sublative Skin Rejuvenation (e-matrix uses Bi-Polar Fractionated Radio Frequency).
Fractional 1540 laser works by treating a targeted portion of skin at a time and can go just below the epidermis (similar way as a Fraxel laser works but with MUCH LESS, if any, downtime). The Fractional 1540 laser delivers light in an array of microbeams to the skin and creates a mild thermal injury to the dermis. The body’s natural response to this injury is to initiate the deposition of new collagen.
Pre & Post Recommendations
The Palomar 1540 resurfacing and scar reduction works by treating tiny columns of tissue within the larger treatment zone, leaving some areas untouched by the laser. By delivering an array of high-precision microbeams, this creates narrow columns of coagulation while sparing the tissue surrounding the beams from damage. By treating a portion of tissue surrounding the untreated skin the healing process kicks in, thus repairing the treated area leaving a healthy youthful skin look.
Fractional treatments, like Photofacials, are more effective when performed in a series because each session treats 20-25% of the skin. They are administered in a series of 4-6 treatments every four weeks for optimal results and may be combined with monthly facials, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and yearly photofacial treatments. After each treatment, patients notice consistent results without unwanted aging side effects such as the formation of new wrinkles.
Treatments are safe for all skin types and can be administered on most areas of the body:
- Nasolabial folds
- Sagginess under eyes
OR anywhere you wish to increase firmness or skin rejuvenation.
This triggers a restorative natural healing process that accelerates the formation of new, healthy tissue, including collagen, and allows for faster healing with visible results in skin texture, color, tone, collagen stimulation, wrinkles, and fine lines.
New collagen production will begin six weeks after treatment and visible improvement usually is seen by the third month. We are actually damaging and stimulating the skin to make new collagen, which takes time. Collagen production may continue for six months to a year after your last treatment in a series!
What are RejuveLux, Picosure focus lens array, and other non-laser rejuvenation treatments like?
Your provider uses a handpiece over the area you want to be treated while it is pulsing. Each pulse will send a beam of flashing light into your skin. An audible tone and a mild skin sensation will tell you when the handpiece is being pulsed.
What should you expect after treatment?
Immediately after treatment, you can expect a mild, sunburn-like sensation that may be accompanied by some minor swelling. This usually lasts 2-24 hours and can be soothed with a cold compress, gel, or ice packs.
- May use cold compress during and after sessions
- Offers an immediate return to work/activities
- Do not wear makeup to your appointment and for 3 hours after
Sunspots, Sun Damage may darken after treatment and be naturally shed from the skin within 1-2 weeks.
