Unsightly spider veins have several ways they can be treated including laser, surgeries, and injections. You should discuss these treatments with our vein specialists to determine the best choice for your personal vein concern.
Step 1 – Varicose Vein Screening
Using a Doppler Ultrasound at our ACR (American College of Radiology) accredited site, we screen the area for varicose veins. This is performed by an RVT- Registered Vascular Technician.
Step 2 – Laser Treatments
Diode and Yag lasers or IPL Photofacials involve a specific wavelength to target spider veins in the skin without damaging the surrounding tissue. The treated vein will turn pinkish and lighten immediately after the procedure. The vein then turns brownish and the body absorbs it naturally through the lymphatic system and will be flushed out. This process may take 6-8 weeks.
Step 3 – Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy is simply medical-grade solutions that are injected into your varicose or spider veins which scars the veins and causes them to collapse hiding the appearance.

How Spider Vein Treatment Works | The Procedure
During your treatment, you will experience a slight stinging sensation but it will quickly subside. If requested, you may use an anesthetic for an additional fee. After the treatment, the appearance of your veins will change from purple to blue to light red. Some veins may swell but this should disappear within a few hours. The redness will completely disperse within 2-6 weeks. You may wear a support stocking to avoid taking medication if preferred. You must wear sunscreen post-treatment.
