Q: Are there other topical or oral agents, medications or product contraindications that I should be aware of or stop using beforehand?
A: Use Sunscreen before, also with aloe during and after treatment, but avoid photosensitive medications.
Q: What body areas can I get treated?
A: Any area (except over your eyes) including the upper underarms, bikini line, chest, legs, back, lip, face, neck, etc.. These can all be safely treated with our hair removal process.
Q: What should I do before a laser treatment?
A: Have area free of any lotions, potions, bronzers, self-tanners, including make-up that can “tint” the skin tone. Fully shave area day of or the day before treatment. Do Not wax, bleach, pluck hair a week before treatment. Only shave with a razor, clippers or cut with scissors.
Q: Here’s how laser hair removal works.
A: The machine uses near-infrared wavelengths to absorb the hair follicle’s pigment. The millisecond pulse laser damages the hair follicle while simultaneously cooling the surface skin with a Chilled Tip to prevent damage. Finally, these precise instruments can be adjusted to damage only the hair follicle while minimally affecting the surrounding skin.
Q: Does Laser Hair Removal hurt?
A: It feels like a small rubber band hitting your skin, most patients say it’s not painful.
Q: Will laser work on all hair color?
A: Laser hair removal will not see white, red, gray or very light vellus (peach fuzz) hair.
Q: How do I know what treatment is best for me?
A: We have certified staff with multiple years of specializing in laser hair removal, they will discuss the best treatment tailored to your individual needs.
Q: Will laser treatments work if I have Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) or hirsutism – which is abnormal hair growth on a person’s body and face?
A: You may require treatments more often and more frequently, Yes it can be just as effective as someone with no hormone problems.

A: The multiple Laser System options we have access to for laser hair removal, so that it has the fluence, wavelength, width, pulse, active, epidermal cooling system with the ChillTip ideally suited for laser hair removal. Q: What is the laser treatment like and what can I expect after the treatment? (See video below)
A: The technician will move the laser handpiece over your skin while the light pulses. You may feel a mild sensation and the laser will emit a tone when pulsed. Immediately after the treatment, rarely you may expect a mild sunburn-like sensation that does not usually last more than a couple hours. The treated hair will continue to appear for up to 30 days, but this is not new hair growth. This is the treated hairs being expelled from the skin. At any given time, some of your hair is in an active growth phase, so that is why you need more than one treatment to remove all of the unwanted hair.
Q: Do we do eyebrow shaping?
A: Yes, with electrolysis and outside the orbital rim with laser hair removal.
Q: Does laser hair removal work on different skin colors or tanned skin?
A: The laser system effectively and safely treats all skin types on the Fitzpatrick Skin scale 1-5 (type 6, such skin color as dark as Whoopi Goldberg, may not reap enough reward compared to the risk). For darker skin colors, power is generally lower and pulse widths are generally longer to prevent damage to the epidermis. Using the appropriate treatment parameters, however even though it is safely possible, should delay treating tanned skin. Every skin varieties can benefit from the laser hair removal process. Lasers need to see a contrast (of hair color compared to skin color) to effectively reduce unwanted hair.
Q: Are the results permanent?
A: Our laser hair removal systems are FDA cleared to safely and effectively remove hair. Most people need between 7-8 treatments for complete removal, touch-ups may typically also be done to follow-ups success on new growth.
Q: Do lasers work on a tan or different skin colors?
A: The LightSheer diode laser system safely and effectively treats all skin types (Fitzpatrick Skin Types I-IV). For darker skin types, settings will be determined by our certified staff at Body Beautiful. Although all skin types can be treated it is not recommended to get treated if your skin is tan.
Q: Should I avoid having a tan during laser treatments?
A: YES and you should also avoid sun exposure for six weeks before and a week after treatment. This includes self-tanners, bronzers, etc. Sun exposure makes laser hair removal less effective and you are likely to have more complications after treatment.
Q: What are Diode lasers?
A: A diode laser uses semiconductor technology that produces a coherent projection of light in the visible infrared range. It uses a light beam with a narrow spectrum to target specific chromophores (color) in the hair. Compared to other laser systems the 800nm diode laser wavelength offers the deepest penetration levels and superior melanin absorption.
