As a general overview, tiny amounts of gel (Botox) are introduced within a particular facial muscle. After this injection, the Botox gel fragments and nerve endings become bound. This process allows for the prevention of neurotransmitters into the site location. As a result of the nerve and muscle now not communicating as an effect of the gel the muscle becomes relaxed producing a smoother exterior look and feel. Only muscles that are treated are affected by the Botox. Muscles tissues for smiling, eating, etc. are not treated and hence are generally not affected. 

Muscles in the face are adequately accountable for wrinkles, folds, and lines. Regularly treated areas include the forehead, frown lines at the root of the nose, laugh lines (the 11’s), and nearby the eyes. Here’s a list of the areas that Botox cosmetics can effectively treat:

At the time of the procedure, the physician will decide the best plan of action and note the sites for injection. The procedure sites will be injected with Botulinum toxin gel near the muscle in a similar area as the ones noted above.
